The village Cidade de Goiás ou Goiás Velho was recognized by UNESCO in 2001 as World Cultural and Historical Heritage for its baroque architecture special for its ancient cultural traditions and exuberant nauture surrounding called Serra Dourada.
It appeared around 1740 and was named Capitanha of Goias.
She knew at that time very active due to the extraction of gold.
Although in sharp decline at the end of this century, the city continued to be recognized as the capital of the state of Goiás until the years 1937, when Goiânia was created for replace because of its more central geographic location.

The leaves are alternate, rough on the upper face and fluffy on the bottom. The flowers present themselves without stalks grouped on a receptacle, surrounded by purple bracts.
